2.4 Special Note About VMS Record Attributes

If you have used FTP to copy binary data files (e.g., RDAF format files) from a VMS machine like IUE, be aware that some FTP software adds extra bytes to the data records if the file had a ``carriage return carriage control'' attribute set. Running CON_RDAF will not correct the problem. To avoid this, run the following procedure on the VMS machine before transferring:

DELCRCC,FILE

The FILE parameter is the full file name (including extension and possibly version) of the file to be converted. Wild cards are accepted. This program runs a VMS command file (delcrcc.com) to use the ``analyze'', ``edt'', and ``convert'' utilities to remove the ``carriage return carriage control'' VMS file record attribute.
