8 REDUCING SPATIALLY-RESOLVED DATA

The IUEDAC has several procedures which are useful for displaying and editing low and (NEWSIPS) high dispersion spatially resolved spectra (hereafter termed the line-by-line spectra), as well as procedures which allow users to re-extract the slit integrated spectra from the line-by-line files.

Please keep in mind that older IUESIPS line-by-line files have 55 lines, while more recently processed files (i.e., since 1-Oct-1985) have 110 lines. The older line-by-line spectral files are generally referred to as LBLS files, and the new files as ELBL (where ``E'' stands for ``extended''). For NEWSIPS, SILO files have 80 lines and SIHI files are 768 line images.
