Archive Registration

Who may register?

The HST/FUSE Data Archive (DA) is mainly intended for astronomical researchers who plan to make scientific use of the data but access to the DA is open to everybody. Amateurs, educators, and other interested people should be aware that the DA contains data, not pictures. The format of the data may be inappropriate for most personal computer systems as the data are intended for professional astronomical data reduction and analysis systems like the Space Telescope Science Analysis System or STSDAS. Before registering, users should read about our retrieval policies.

HST image files in formats which are more easily displayed (e.g., GIF, JPEG, and TIFF) are available from the STScI Office of Public Outreach.

Why do I need to register?

We use the information provided by users on the registration form in case we need to contact them about the status of their request, for account maintenance, or if they want us to mail them copies of the manuals to you. Occasionally, we send out notices to all of our registered users about what's new in the archive. We also use the information you provide to help us understand our user base, which in turn helps us develop our services accordingly.

How do I register?

To register, simply fill out our WWW Registration Form. Or, if your browser doesn't handle HTML forms, an ASCII version is available; fill it in and email it to archive@stsci.edu.
