The International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) Data Analysis Center
(formerly known as the Regional Data Analysis Facility or RDAF)
was established in
1982, a few years following the launch of the IUE spacecraft, to assist
users in the interpretation and analysis of IUE data. Analysis
software was created based on the Interactive Data Language (IDL),
marketed by Research Systems
Incorporated. (N.B. the IUE data itself is stored using
non-proprietary data formats, and any software language can be used as a
basis for IUE data analysis.) These routines have allowed users to reduce
and analyze IUE spectral data; display images; perform various database
searches; and convert IUE data sets into various formats, such as FITS and
ASCII text.
Although the IUE Data Analysis Center (IUEDAC) officially closed
on October 8th, 1997, funding was made available to continue support
for the IUEDAC software and documentation from the Space Telescope
Science Institute (STScI). Former IUE staff members are
available to assist novice and experienced IUE users with any questions
they may have regarding data analysis, software updates, and related
issues.
E-mail regarding IUEDAC software or IUE data analysis may be sent
