Workshop: Defeating Dr. Nefarious

Learn to use our cloud science tools in this interactive workshop. In a team of ~3, you'll work through a series of data challenges involving timeseries analysis, catalog cross-matching, cutouts, and more. You'll use Python-based tools like astroquery and astropy to solve the puzzles; MAST staff will give a short series of talks beforehand to help you get started.
A hack session will be included after the data challenges so that you can apply these newly learned techniques to your own research. MAST experts will be on-standby to answer questions and debug issues.

The evil Dr. Nefarious has used their mind-control device to seize control of MAST! In just three short hours, the archive will be deleted and replaced by millions of hours of AI-generated smooth jazz. But there's one hope: the mind-control device isn't perfect. If you can convince people that the archive data are valuable for science, you can break the spell and prevent MAST from being erased! Can you and your team analyze the data and publish results before it's too late?
